- Algeria Health Insurance Information
The findings by the United States
survey (dated 6th of March 2006) show that health in Algeria still does not measure up
with the developed countries.
The country is usually short of physicians (just one
physicians for every 1000 residents) and hospital beds (just 2.1 beds for every
1000 residents), and 87% of the residents still have difficulty to assess water
and 92% of the residents have to do with dubious sanitation issues.
As
Algeria
is a relatively young country with young population, health policy in place
usually prioritizes preventive healthcare; and clinics over hospitals.
Central to this health policy is a government funded
immunization program.
Nevertheless, unclean water and poor sanitation often give
rise to cholera, typhoid fever, dysentery, hepatitis, measles and tuberculosis.
As late as 2003, one in every 1000 residentsпїЅ age 15 - 49
suffered from HIV/AIDS (short for human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune
deficiency syndrome).
If you plan to travel or work in this country, it will be
advisable that you and your family have a full and comprehensive insurance
coverage in a country where medical resources are so much in short supply.
